This is not a game of patintero, but UST’s point guard John Sheriff had to elude NU’s defenders to avoid getting fouled and going to the free throw line in the process, not exactly his favorite thing to do.
The Bulldogs employed a hack-a-Sheriff tactic by continuously fouling the Thomasian point guard in the hopes to stall UST’s momentum with his paltry free throw shooting, and cutting UST’s 16-point lead.

Sheriff made only two of ten shots from 15-feet in the fourth quarter, but thanks to their stern defense, UST handily won its final four match versus the defending champions.
Sheriff had the last laugh and scored 10 points, mostly from layups. It was his best game of the season.
