Mac Belo hit the biggest shot during the biggest game of his career as Far Eastern University (FEU) dethroned De La Salle University, 67-64, in Wednesday night’s do-or-die duel at the Araneta Coliseum for a spot in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 77 men’s basketball finals.
Belo, who posted 23 points and eight rebounds in the match, buried a clutch trey as time expired to give the Tamaraws their first berth in the finals since 2011.
Tolomia recovered from a sorry performance last Saturday with 14 points and six assists, while Roger Ray Pogoy added eight markers.
Jeron Teng pooled together 13 points and six assists, while Jason Perkins added 12 markers and 12 caroms, but both were not enough to give them a shot to defend the crown they nabbed a year earlier.
The Tamaraws will face National University, which earlier knocked off top-seeded Ateneo de Manila to earn their place in the finals for the first time since 1970.
