Gelo Alolino punched five straight unanswered points for National University, as they eliminate Ateneo de Manila University following a 65-63 finish in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 77 Final Four at the Araneta Coliseum.

The 20-year old ex-youth national team guard buried a clutch trey with 2:01 left to knot the contest at 63-all, then knocked down his lone pair of free throws with 9.3 seconds left to put the Bulldogs ahead for good.

After a freak thunderstorm around the Cubao, Quezon City area shot the lights out of the Coliseum and halted the contest for nearly 20 minutes, Kiefer Ravena tried his best to tie the ballgame, but his contested floater with two seconds left was cleanly swatted away by Cameroonian center Alfred Aroga to save the win.

Alolino wound up with 12 points, while Aroga led the way with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks for the Bulldogs.

Chris Newsome tallied 22 points and six rebounds in his final game for the Blue Eagles, while Kiefer Ravena added 18 points and seven assists.

This is the first time that NU appeared in the finals since 1970, where they will try to end their 60-year title drought.
