Gameville, Mandaluyong— Last 17th of September 2025, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) unveiled their partnership with Smart and SportsPlus; this forged a bond between the three organizations to support Filipino athletes going to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
This partnership will pave the way for the Filipino athletes to prepare extensively, as it will provide funding for local and international training camps.
POC, Smart and SportsPlus will also spread the word about the athletes as they deserve to be recognized for their talent and what they can bring to the world stage.
SportsPlus will invest in digital campaigns and events to promote our Pinoy sports heroes. SportsPlus’ move will not only benefit the current roster of athletes vying to represent the country in 2028, but will also inspire the youth who want to have the Three Stars and the Sun on their chest in the future.
SportsPlus Head of Partnerships James da Costa excitedly shared, “SportsPlus is more than a partner. We are a dedicated supporter of the exceptional talent and spirit of the Filipino athlete. From grassroots development to professional ranks and on to the world stage, SportsPlus is committed to standing with athletes every step of the way.”
Jude Turcuato, First Vice-President and Head of Sports from Smart Communications Inc., said the partnership will ensure that local athletes get the exposure, world-class connectivity for training, live-streaming content. Best of all, it will connect the athlete with their families and supporters.
“This collaboration with Smart and SportsPlus is a big boost for our athletes. The most important thing is preparation in all our undertakings, and these partnerships provide exactly that. With partners who are truly passionate about Philippine Sports, we may not just bring home two medals like we did in the Paris Olympics— we can achieve even more,” declared POC President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
As a former athlete, hearing about this excites me for the current line-up of athletes and for the youth who will one day lace up their own boots and represent our country. Like every Filipino, I am hopeful and thankful that our athletes are getting the support that they need for them to prepare for upcoming competitions and most especially, the Olympics.
