University of the Philippines succeeded in its UAAP men’s football title defense with a 1-0 win at Ateneo on Sunday, once again at the cost of  University of Santo Tomas who also met the Diliman squad in last year’s finals.

Striker Jinggoy Valmayor delivered the games lone but fatal goal, firing from Jay Eusebio’s pass two feet into the box.

UP now has a total of 16 championship titles, with the recent three earned in the last four years.
