Red Bull, Ferrari or McLaren?

The Maranello marque and the entire Italian community was in obvious elation after Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso stormed his way past the chequered flag first beating McLaren’s Jenson Button by just 2.9 seconds for the Monza round of the FIA Formula One 2010 season.

After escaping further sanctions due to their controversial team order incident by which they were whammed with a $100,000 fine and was subjected to the World Motorsport Council, Ferrari outclassed the rampaging Red Bulls and for the second time the Bulls were not on the front row.

It would have been a Ferrari-McLaren dog fight had Lewis Hamilton not been too excited to pass and leapfrog Felipe Massa which resulted to a bogey and damage to his car en route to a retirement and a blow to his title fight.

Jenson Button can only do as much after he was beaten by Alonso in the pit stop despite holding the lead from the start after edging the former.

Mark Webber of Red Bull now leads the Drivers’ championship followed by Hamilton. With wins by Alonso and Button currently third and fourth in the standings, determining the World Champion is still a five-way title fight for the two Red Bulls, two McLarens and Alonso of Ferrari.

With Ferrari’s recent renaissance they still have an outside chance of clinching the Constructors’ plum.

Next stop, Singapore and I am looking forward to it.

If Button was dubbed as a boring winner last year having won his first six consecutively en route to an easy title last year with Brawn GP, this year’s probably the most exciting since 2007 and 2008.

I am still betting on Lewis Hamilton though to take it and perhaps for Red Bull to clinch the other title.

Ferrari and McLaren fans need not lose hope though.

UP Fight!

Yes 2010 is the year of the Maroons for the Cheerdance Competition as they showcased yet another near-perfect and well-thought cheerdance routines en route to their regaining of the title after losing to Far Eastern University last year.

Despite their lacklustre men’s basketball results, the UP Pep Squad certainly did not fail their thousands of supporters to the delight of even their greatest rivals, the University of Santo Tomas crowd who cheered for the awesome Maroon routines!

Kudos to the UP Pep and to the fun-loving UP community! You deserve the win and you showed to everyone that cheerleading is just as exciting as basketball games!
