After defending their UAAP CDC crown, the UP Pep Squad now represents the country with PUP and CEU in the biennial international cheerleading competition.
The UP Pep Squad, PUP Stars, CEU Lady Scorpions, will be the Philippines’ bets in the 6th Cheerleading World Championship in Hong Kong as the country sends competitors in the biennial event for the first time.
But before leaving for the competition, the Philippine Cheerleading Team presented their routines in the tilt’s six categories: Cheer – All Female, Cheer – Mixed, Group Stunts – All Female, Group Stunts – Mixed, Partner Stunts – Mixed, and Cheer Dance. Organized by the University of the Philippines, the send-off also became an avenue for the national contingent to thank their sponsors.

Tessa Prieto-Valdes shares a light moment with some UP Pep Squad members during the send-off program at the UP. Prieto-Valdes represented Assumption HS Batch 81, who helped sponsor the Philippine Team in their bid at the 6th Cheerleading World Championship. Another known donor is Dan Palami, team manager of the Azkals.
The UP Pep Squad also took the opportunity to thank everyone who supported Mat Project: a campaign that helped the team replace their old training mats.
Here are some scenes from this Sunday’s program.
