University of the Philippines finally wins their second game of the season on Thursday in the continuation of the 74th University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Fighting Maroons upset Far Eastern University in the twinbill’s opener, 76-63. Jet Manuel highlighted the scoring column with 20 points, including a third quarter-ending trey.

Mike Silungan scattered 16 points with 7 assists, while transferee guard Gelo Montecastro and Nigerian stalwart Alinko Mbah each had 14 apiece.

UP hikes their standing to 2-3, while FEU drops just their second game of the season but still remains at solo possession of second place with a 4-2 record.

In the second game, Ateneo de Manila University is just a win away from sealing a clean mark entering the second round of eliminations with a masterful 66-53 dismantling of University of Santo Tomas.

Kiefer Ravena tallied 18 points and 6 assists, while Nico Salva added 14 points and 9 rebounds.

The Blue Eagles continue to reign atop the standings with an immaculate 6-0 card, while the Growling Tigers fail to snatch a victory over the Katipunan five for the 10th straight time.
