After an embarrassing comeback loss to Ateneo last weekend, Adamson made sure that this game won’t slip out of their hands
The Soaring Falcons catapulted to their first win of the season with a 78-59 victory over Far Eastern University on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Adamson never let up, dominating the rebounding department, as well as the second chance points. Their intense and aggressive defense limited the Tamaraws to only 16 points in the first quarter. Adamson continued to keep FEU at bay, holding on to a comfortable 42-32 lead at the end of the first half.
At the start of the third quarter, FEU was held scoreless for six minutes following a basket by JR Cawaling. A warning on Adamson’s Austin Manyara for pointing an accusing finger at an official swung the momentum briefly in FEU’s favor, and they seemed ready to bounce back coming into the fourth quarter with only a 7-point deficit.
However, a series of fouls by the Tamaraws in the fourth quarter plus consistent scoring and back-to-back alley-oops from Eric Camson and Janus Lozada clinched the game for the Falcons.
Alex Nuyles led the scoring for Adamson, making 10 of his 22 points in the first quarter. Camson put up double figures with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lozada and Jan Colina combined for a total of 16 points.
RR Garcia put up 20 points for the Tamaraws, with Aldrech Ramos and JR Cawaling scoring 14 and 11 respectively.
Adamson Coach Leo Austria was ecstatic over the win. “Nakakadevelop ng character yung team. Maraming support na… alam nila we’re on the right track.”
Austria was all praises for Nuyles, saying today was a breakout game for the starting Forward. He also commended the entire team, saying that they were inspired and that they knew they had a role to do.
FEU Coach Bert Flores remained good-natured despite the blow-outloss. “Natalo kami sa rebounds… Bad start talaga. Para kaming mashadong natuwa kay Kobe,” jested the returning head coach
