The Philippine national softball team barged in the semifinals of the 2014 Asian Games, demolishing Thailand, 13-0, in just four innings Tuesday at the Songdo LNG Stadium in Incheon.

The Blu Girls did not waste efforts in the second and third innings, scoring all of their thirteen runs and piercing the faulty pitching and infield defense of the winless Thais.

Nine softbelles scored at least a run in the game.

The Blu Girls snatched its second win in the elimination tournament and its first win after a three-game losing streak.

They will next face reigning gold medalist Japan, a team who earlier smashed the Philippines at 2-10, in the semifinals.

In the other team sport, the Philippine Volcanoes dropped its first game in men’s rugby sevens, 14-19, against China at the Namdong Rugby Field.

The match was a deadlock battle after the first half, with Chinese Wang Jianhua and Filipino Justin Coveney scoring a try apiece.

The Volcanoes then surged to 17-7 lead with an Andrew Wolff try and a subsequent conversion by Gareth Holgate.

Two minutes later, Ma Chong of China completed his try and conversion to tie the game at 14-14.

With barely a minute left, Ma miraculously sneaked in a try for a 19-14 lead and even if he muffed his conversion, the Chinese ran away with the victory, leaving the Filipinos stunned.

The Volcanoes will next face Hong Kong, which won against Pakistan, later today.
