Ah, St. Patrick’s Day. The time of the year that the Irish in everyone gets out. Shamrocks, leprechauns, and everything green is in during this special day of the year.In line with this celebration, NBA franchises rooted in cities with rich Irish culture celebrate this special day by donning emerald-shaded uniforms. Incidentally, one of the teams that will be sporting the said uniforms will be the Chicago Bulls, led by rising superstar Derrick Rose.
The 6-foot-3 hometown hero has been steadily improving his game since being drafted first overall in the 2008 draft, and it doesn’t hurt for him to get a little luck.
This year, adidas has created a special colorway of his popular adizero Rose 1.5 signature shoe and incorporated the color most associated with the traditional Irish holiday celebrated on March 17 — and luck.
adidas’ limited edition offering features SprintSkin technology, a lightweight and water repellant synthetic material, on the shoe’s upper in a vibrant intense green color that blends perfectly with the team’s special holiday uniform.
The three stripes branding on the heel and the back, as well as Derrick Rose’s signature, are the only parts of the shoe that his opponents see when they bite his dust on his way to the hoop.
In the shoe’s sockliner includes the date “06-28-2008”, which signifies the date when he was selected by the Bulls in that year’s draft.
