With heavy rains enveloping the entire Metro Manila and surrounding areas, numerous collegiate sporting events have been put on hold.

In the NCAA, two playing dates in the basketball tournament, the resumption of the chess tournament on Wednesday, and the opening of the swimming competition slated for last Tuesday have been called off.

Affected games in the seniors hoops tournament included the Monday twinbill pitting Lyceum vs. San Sebastian College and Benilde vs. Perpetual Help, together with the lone Mapua vs Emilio Aguinaldo College showdown scheduled on Thursday.

The Swimming tournament has now been slated to take place on August 27 to 29 at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Complex, while rescheduled dates for the chess and affected basketball gamedays have not been announced by the NCAA.

Meanwhile, the UAAP postponed their Wednesday men’s doubleheader featuring University of the East vs. University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila vs. University of Santo Tomas.

Also, the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference twinbill on Tuesday, which would have seen a tripleheader at The Arena in San Juan City, has been reset.

The three-game playdate would have seen Far Eastern University vs Army (rescheduled to September 20), Navy vs Cagayan Valley (rescheduled to August 30), and Air Force vs Meralco (rescheduled to September 17).
