San Beda continues their domination over the competition, while College of Saint Benilde pulls off a fast one to stave off a solo spot at the cellar in the continuation of the 87th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.

The Red Lions hiked their record to 5-0 with a 103-62 rout of  Emilio Aguinaldo College in the first game. Garvo Lanete had 32 points on 12-for-20 (60%) shooting from the field.  He also had 5 rebounds and 4 steals during the contest.

Rome Dela Rosa had 17, while Dave Marcelo and rookie point guard Baser Amer added 11 points apiece.

Jan Jamon totalled for 11 points, while Claude Cubo and Russell Yaya each added 11 in the Generals’ two consecutive setbacks.

The Blazers, meanwhile, snap a two game skid at the expense of University of Perpetual Help, 88-83. Paolo Taha made minced meat out of the Altas’ defense on the fast break with 18 points on 7-for-9 (77 percent) shooting, while Jan Tan added 15 points and 8 rebounds.

After sharing the bottom of the table with Perpetual before the match, Benilde escapes the cellar with a 2-4 record.
