In this topsy-turvy season for Benilde, nothing hurts more than their extremely close losses in winnable contests.
With a possible seat in the Final Four on the line in their recent game against Emilio Aguinaldo College, the Blazers’ skipper kept their team in the thick of things throughout the entire match against the upstart Generals, who defeated them by just one point in their first meeting back in July 4.
Following a play that saw Fons Saavedra commit a costly foul off an illegal pick, Romero tried his best to defend John Tayongtong, who converted the go-ahead basket with seconds to spare.
But their unit squandered the opportunity to either tie or win the ballgame with a broken possession off a timeout, leaving them puzzled about their late-game jitters.
