LeBron James, a two-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP, made his stop in Manila as part of a long-line of hoop stars that will make their way to the Philippine capital.
In his one-day only appearance all over Metro Manila on Tuesday, from a mid-day press conference at the Makati Shangri-La to the mini-skills clinic and scrimmage at the Mall of Asia Arena, his presence was felt as fans came in drones to witness “King James” in the flesh.
Even Ranidel de Ocampo, who has been a veteran in international play for the men’s national squad, was left star-struck following his close encounter with James, where he was blown by in a post-up play where he had to defend the nine-time NBA All-Star during the 10-minute long scrimmage.
“Sobrang swerte ko na maka-laro si LeBron (James),” remarked De Ocampo. “Medyo relaxed na nga siyang mag-laro, pero mahirap pa rin bantayan.”
Even after the bright lights dimmed at the Mall of Asia Arena, James went back to work — putting up jumpers, working on his post-up moves, and refusing to let the summer slip away without a sweat-breaking session.
On hand for the day’s event are veteran FCF lensmen Andrew Pamorada and Martin San Diego, who were able to capture scenes from King James’ stay in the metro.
