
The Philippine athletics team intensified its campaign after faltering in the past days, as runner Eric Cray advanced to the semifinals in heat three of the men’s 400 m. hurdles at the Incheon Main Stadium Tuesday.
Cray clocked in at exactly 50 seconds and was inches away from heat leader Cheng Wen of China, who won at 49.89 seconds.
Meanwhile, Jesson Cid is currently at ninth place in Group A of decathlon with 2,297 points with seven competitions to go.
After topping the group with a first place finish in the 100 m. dash, finished at eighth place in long jump and was dead last in shot put.
Last Monday, the bemedalled Marestella Torres was disqualified in the women’s long jump competition finals after three faulty jumps while veteran Christian Ulboc finished last in the men’s 3,000 m. steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes and 21 seconds.
Ulboc was almost half a lap behind eighth place Kim Young Jin of South Korea.
In bowling, the Philippine women’s team landed at eighth place in the team-of-five competition, scoring 5,787 pinfalls.
The team composed of Liza del Rosario, Alexis Sy, Liza Clutario, Krizziah Lyn Tabora, and Marian Posadas were 332 pinfalls behind gold medalist Singapore.
