The National University Lady Bulldogs opened the season 80 women’s volleyball tournament intense and powerful as they crushed the Adamson University Lady Falcons to 3-1 game today, February 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Led by the Team Captain Jaja Santiago who contributed 16 points, the Sampaloc-based squad did not make it easy for the Lady Falcons despite of their standing last season and immediately bombarded them with unstoppable attacks during the first set with 25-15.
In the second set, the Ladies in White and Blue showed their opponents that they are backing down without a fight, however, it was not enough for them to get the set with, 25-23 in favor of NU.
As the third commenced, Coach Castillo’s ladies seemed to be in hibernation mode and the moment was taken advantage by the Falcons from San Marcelino to bounced back grabbing their first set with 16-25.
Even though the Lady Bulldogs got the last set of the game with 25-13, they were concerned on what went wrong during their down flashes during the game which occurred in the second and third set.
“I think obviously, you can see what went wrong. Kung ano nga yung nangyari, kung ano nga sabi ni Jaja, I think she’s right. Yung condition; yung katawan. We wanted to produce more on the third set pero makikita mo kung baga sa battery medyo bumaba ng konti. That was our struggle kaya pinagaaralan naming kung paano gagawan ng paraan ‘yon. Merong short term, merong long term solution pero definitely, parehas naming iintidihin ‘yon,” Coach Raymund Castillo stated.
