The Ateneo Lady Eagles upset the Adamson Lady Falcons in an intense five-set match (3-2) and notching their fourth consecutive win today, March 25 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Both teams started the game powerfully and showcasing their tight defense and attacks but the San Marcelino-based squad seemed to be one-step ahead of the Lady the Eagles which enables them to get the set, 24-26.
In the second set, the Spikers from Katipunan successfully took over and revived their first set loss with their attacks and forcing Adamson to commit errors finishing it with 25-19, respectively.
As the third set commenced, Adamson got their composure back together, pulling a set back to gain the lead again, 21-25
During fourth set, the triumph was already at reach by Adamson unfortunately, they have taken their guard down and was used as a loophole by Ateneo that made them earned the set, 26-24.
In the most crucial part of the game, the Lady Eagles seemed to want to finish the game right away led by Jhoanna Maraguinot who scored a total of 23 points as they aggressively attacked the Lady Falcons.
However, Coach Air’s battalion did not backed down without a fight but it was not enough to bested Ateneo ending the game with 15-12, respectively.
It may have been a tough game for the Ateneo Lady Eagles but Madeleine Madayag stated that these tough challenges are helping them to grow as a player and as a team.
“That’s what really makes the team. For example, you go through challenges and that’s how they build you as a team. So I guess this is a really great experience for the team especially na tine-test nga yung character namin, yung skills namin, yung tatag ng loob namin. It’s really a good experience,”
