University of the East played the spoiler’s role once again, delaying De La Salle University’s entry into the Final Four with a 68-66 win in Wednesday’s University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 men’s basketball at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Red Warriors, led once again by the heroics of Bong Galanza, move within a win for a playoff for a spot in the Final Four.

Galanza talled 21 markers and seven rebounds, while Roi Sumang put up 14 points and five steals off the bench.

Down by 10 points midway through the final period, Galanza went berserk with seven points in their 12-2 run to knot the contest at 63-all.

Then, Dan Alberto picked the pocket of Almond Vosotros to complete an and-one play against Jeron Teng to put UE up for good.

Teng scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished off four assists to pace the Green Archers.

Almond Vosotros broke out of his season-long slump with 11 points and five rebounds, while Julian Sargent added 10.
