When the FIFA World Cup was hosted by Korea and Japan in 2002, most Filipino football fans had to flock to sports bars just to watch the games because they were not televised on either cable or free TV. The time difference was not so much an issue for most fans since this was the first time the FIFA World Cup was hosted on Asian soil.
The quadrennial spectacle kicks off on the 16th of November until the 22nd of December; and will be held in Qatar, the very first time that this event will be played on Middle Eastern territory. A total of 32 countries will be represented and each one hoping to fulfill every football player’s dream, and that is to lift the WORLD CUP.
The good news for Pinoy football fans is that TAP Digital Media Ventures will be broadcasting all 64 matches thru their pay-per-view channel called WORLD CUP TV. Viewers will be able to access this via web-browser or thru the WCTV application, which will be available for both Android and iOS. As a plus, the subscriber will be given full-access to pre and post-game interviews, match highlights and of course, replays of every match from the said tournament.
“We’ve actually set a price for all this all-access on World Cup TV. For Php 1,999, you get a whole month of football plus more,” said Rely San Agustin, TAP Go’s Marketing Manager. He also shared that they will also be coming up with different payment plans for viewers and an early-bird promo, which will all be announced on their Facebook page in the coming months leading up to the said event. San Agustin also added that Premier Football’s Boot Room will also make a come back with Nate Burkey, Simone Jaldon, Rick Olivares and Anto Gonzales giving their expert analysis and predictions for the month-long tournament.
The whole world will be watching the most viewed sports event, all awaiting to add new memories that will live forever; adding to so many good and bad ones, like Maradona’s Hand of God, Pele and Garrincha’s magical moments, Korea’s Cinderella story, David Beckham’s infamous red card against Germany, Ronaldo’s redemption and many more.
The World Cup fever is heating up and what better way to catch it by having the beautiful game on-demand and 24/7 on your mobile device.
For the Game. For the World.
