FIBA World Cup 2023: The 11,329 in attendance at the MOA Arena on Monday, August 28, were treated to a feast with Team USA showing dominance over Greece early in the first quarter. The two teams faced off in an exhibition match in Abu Dhabi two weeks ago; and USA’s score of 109 over Greece’s 81 points on August 28 gave the USA Basketball Team a 16-2 all-time record against the Greeks, and a 5-1 record in the FIBA World Cup.

Steve Kerr started with the same 5 namely Jaren Jackson Jr., Anthony Edwards, Brandon Ingram, Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson whose 8 points led all scorers as the US Team reigned 37-50 at the end of the first half. The second unit showed up once more as they provided that spark which steam-rolled the Greeks, with Austin Reaves being named the TCL Player of the Game with 15 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds and had a team-best of 23 efficiency score.

The Americans cruised away in the second half as Anthony Edwards was able to find his rhythm. Josh Hart came in second-best in efficiency and had a tteam-high of11 rebounds, 6 points and 5 assists. While Brunson and Bobby Portis Jr. contributed with 13 and 10 points each respectively; each Team USA member was on the score sheet this time around as the team tried to improve their chemistry.

USA will play its final group stage game against Jordan this coming Wednesday with tip-off scheduled at 4:40PM Manila time.
