San Beda Red Lions handed over to Lyceum Pirates their first downfall in the NCAA season 93 finals game one, 94-87 last November 7 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Pirates started the game strong as they draw the first blood in the battle but both teams showed much intensity in the first quarter and ended it with a close score of 22-21 in favor of the Red Lions.

During the second quarter, the Pirates from Intramuros pounded the Men in Red led by Jaymar Perez who garnered 10 points with their defense as they took the lead and ending the first half, 50-45.

With the halftime adjustments made by Coach Boyet Fernandez, they were able to trim the gap that almost led into a lead but the Pirates did not let the Red Lions just scored that easily and the period ended with a deadlock, 64-all.

Though, many spectators are saying that the Mendiola-based squad were the underdogs in this final series, they exhibited a game that was played by a true champion and proved that even if Lyceum swept the eliminations, they rightfully deserve the crown.
