San Sebastian College eliminates Lyceum of the Philippines University in their 80-68 victory on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
Led by Calvin Abueva, who recorded another double-double output of 18 points and 12 rebounds, helped the Golden Stags clinch the first twice-to-beat bonus in a tight race between the top three teams (SSC-R, San Beda, Letran).
Ian Sangalang notched 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Ronald Pascual rounded out the leaders with 14.
In the same vein, the idle Jose Rizal University gets a free pass to enter the Final Four outright due to LPU’s loss today.
Jun Napiza led the Pirates with 13 points in a losing cause.
NCAA Season 87 hosts University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, on the other hand, ended their stint with a bang by defeating Arellano University by a final count of 79-60.
Justin Alano wound up with a team-high of 16 points, George Allen tallied 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Jet Vidal piled on 10 points in their season finale.
With a record of 5-13, the Altas completely surpassed their 2-14 mark last season under former head coach Boris Aldeguer, who abruptly resigned a week before the start of the tournament due to the continued ineligibility of controversial big men Marlon Gomez and Paul Nuilan.
Rocky Acidre finished with 13 points, followed by Mark Doligon and John Casiño who each had 11 apiece in the loss.
In juniors action, the Arellano Braves took home a 96-65 win at the expense of the Perpetual Altalets. On the other hand, the San Sebastian Staglets blew off the Lyceum Junior Pirates by 75 points, 100-25.
