LeBron to mentor Nike Rise aspirants; Curry to headline UnderArmour launch
Filipinos are in for another shot at a budding hoops rivalry as Nike’s LeBron James and UnderArmour’s Steph Curry will visit Manila.
Cleveland Cavaliers hometown hero James comes back to Manila for another Nike promotional tour, this time to mentor young Filipino hoops aspirants from the reality documentary program Nike Rise when they go up against a UAAP selection either on August 21. James, who had carried his team to an NBA Finals appearance on his return to Cleveland, arrived in Manila on August 19 and will face the press on August 20.
James is the second NBA star who will mentor Nike Rise aspirants as Paul George, the Indiana Pacers star who arrived last July 19, spent time teaching basketball fundamentals to handpicked street ballers from all over the country.
After James, Curry, the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player, will arrive in Manila on September 5 to headline UnderArmour’s Asian Tour.
Curry, who is coming off a successful NBA season after steering the Golden State Warriors to its first title since 1975, will also be off to stops in China and Japan as part of his UnderArmour Asian Tour dubbed as “The UA Roadshow featuring Steph Curry.”
