In what could be his last Paralympic hurrah, Jerrold Mangliwan set a personal best but was a far cry from a medal finish in the 1,500 meter wheelchair race – T52 Sunday at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.
The 41-year-old Kalinga veteran hit the finish line in three minutes and 58.24 seconds, placing sixth among seven finalists.
Japanese ace Tomoki Sato captured his second gold medal, finishing with a time of three minutes and 29.13 seconds.
400 meter silver medalist Raymond Martin of the United States made a silver finish anew at three minutes and 29.72 seconds.
And just like in the 400 meter race, Hirokazu Ueyonabaru placed third again with a time of three minutes and 44.17 seconds.
All other racers were more than ten seconds behind the bronze medalist.
Mangliwan’s final race is the 100 meter sprint set on September 3.
