The much anticipated launching of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup kits of the Filipinas was presented to a jam-packed BGC Ampitheater last 16th of May. The event included a mini-fashion show which showcased the different Filipinas apparel from Adidas, such as hoodies, shirts and tote bags, all brandishing the word FILIPINAS, the moniker given to the World Cup debutants.
The first kit introduced to the public were the Goalkeeper jerseys, which comes in two colors, yellow and apple green, worn by Filipinas’ goalkeepers Olivia McDaniel and Inna Palacios. Right after that, the second kit presented was the solid blue uniform with pink pinstripes, then the red jerseys came next, which had white pinstripes.
The highlight of the evening was the home kit, which was dominantly white and had a faint touch of blue on its pinstripes and the shimmering PFF patch was eye-catching.
When representing one’s country, wearing the national team jersey is an honor for athletes and the uniform gives them a sense of pride when they get on that pitch. We have heard stories about this from players of the national team.
Come July, our very own Filipinas will get the chance to compete in the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. Being able to wear each and every color of the country’s flag will surely bring them pride and confidence.
Personally, I can’t wait to purchase these kits once they hit the shelves, especially since my nine-year old daughter just started playing football for her school. These are indeed exciting times. I never thought I’d be able to experience this in my lifetime. The impossible happened, and my whole family will be wearing our own Filipinas jersey this coming July, to support our very own Filipinas.
