The De La Salle Green Archers snatched the game from the Adamson University Soaring Falcons with a close score of 80-74, today, October 21 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Adamson Falcons immediately fired up in the first quarter knowing that they are facing a tough opponent and getting ahead was one of the strategies they could use against La Salle and ending the period with 17-13 in favor of the Falcons.

Of course, the Archers did not back down with the intense performance that Coach Franz Pumaren’s squad was showing and led by Ricci Rivero who garnered 10 points and finishing the first half with a deadlock, 35 all.

The Taft-based Archers started to pound the Blue shirts in the third quarter and gain the lead, however, Tyrus Hill knocked down a jam to uplift his teammates but the quarter still ended in favor of La Salle, 58-54.

Although Coach Aldin Ayo’s squad is doing their best to win every game, there are still people in doubt in his Mayhem system but Ricci Rivero said that, “Like what coach said, let’s not talk about [the] “a win is a win” thing because everytime we win, everyone is saying chamba lang naman parang nakahabol lang and all. Pero sabi nga ni coach, this game is a test of character…for all of us.”

As the fourth quarter commenced, the Falcons tried to even the game but it was hard for them to break the defense system of the Archers even though they executed a 9-2 run, it was not enough to win over the game.

Bannering La Salle were rising star Ricci Rivero with 17 points and 4 rebounds, Leonard Santillian who pitched in 16 points and 10 rebounds and Ben Mbala with 15 points and 17 rebounds.

On the other hand, AdU Falcons’ Jerrick Ahaminsi, Papi Sarr and Jonathan Espleta contributed 17 points and 2 rebounds, 17 points and 12 rebounds and 12 points and 3 rebounds, respectively.
