The De La Salle Green Archers crushed the National University Bulldogs with a whopping 25-point lead today, November 4, 101-76 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
It was an unusual game between Coach Aldin Ayo and Coach Jamike Jarin today when the Green Archers pounded the NU Bulldogs knowing that they have a growing rivalry in them that started when they were coaches in the NCAA.
In the first quarter, it was an exchange of offensive scoring inside and outside the paint by both teams and ending the period with 26-20 in favor of the Archers.
As the second quarter started, the Green shirts slowed down Jarin’s boys by tightening their defense led by Ben Mbala and Ricci Rivero who pitched in 13 and 11 points at the end of first half, 47-35.
The Taft-based squad continued to bombard the players in Blue in the third quarter trailing them behind by 16 points, 73-57.
It could have been a close match if NU Bulldogs’ Matt Salem was able to play, unfortunately, he is still recovering from Dengue but still giving his all-out support for his team from the bench.
Also, Antonio Joson and Jayjay Alejandro bannered the National University Bulldogs by contributing 20 points each.
On the other hand, Ben Mbala garnered 30 points and 8 rebounds while Ricci Rivero rallied 16 points and 6 rebound for La Salle.
