The 2022 AIA Kampeon Cup 2022 opens on October 14, 2022 at the La Provincia Polo Field in Bacolod. To formally launch the competition, a press conference was held on October 10, 2022 at Studio 300 in Mandaluyong. Present to drum up the cup’s return were AIA 7’s Football League founder Anton del Rosario, AIA Head of Health and Wellness Kats Cajucom, and AIA Head of Branding and Communications Bernadette Chincuanco. With them were players from the BGC and Cebu teams who shared their excitement on the upcoming tournament.

In 2019, the AIA Kampeon Cup opened a new window of opportunity for the local football scene, wherein teams from outside Metro Manila, particularly Cebu, Bacolod and Davao were invited to participate. That year, the team from Cebu were hailed the champions.

The 2022 AIA Kampeon Cup tournament will be composed of two groups: one group will have teams from San Carlos, Pampanga, and Bacolod, while the other group will have teams from BGC, Iloilo and defending champions, Cebu.

AIA’s Chincuanco emphasized,  “AIA’s aim is to provide opportunity to the players to showcase their skills and have this as their platform to make a name for themselves, especially after the very long hiatus due to the pandemic.” She also announced that AIA is hoping to bring over to the Philippines a Tottenham Hotspur Legend in 2023.
