The Adamson University Soaring Falcons continued to pave their way into the final four as they overpowered the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 86-70 today, November 5 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Both teams fired up the first quarter with their neck-to-neck defense and offense but Adamson took the lead by one point at the end of the period, 18-17.
In the second quarter, Papi Sarr who garnered 14 points in the first half led the Falcons to widen the gap but UP was resilient and kept answering back but the quarter ended in favor of the Men in Blue, 39-31.
The Ermita-based squad came back stronger in the start of the second half that led into bashing from some of the UP fans; one student even threw a paper inside the court but of course, Coach Franz’s boys kept their heads composed.
“Yun nga, sinasabi ni Coach Franz na just play, wag niyo ng isipin yun. Kasi nga tina-try nila na sirain yung play [naming]. So, we’re just gonna play and follow coach Franz,” Jerie Pingoy stated.
On the other hand, the Katipunan-based battalion indeed gave the Falcons a scare game and bannering them were Paul Desiderio, Jun Manzo and Javi Gomez de Liano who contributed 20,15 and points, respectively.
In addition, Papi Sarr produced a huge double-double today for Adamson, 25 points and 17 rebounds and alongside with him were Jerie Pingoy and Jerrick Ahanmisi who rallied 15 and 11 points.
