The Green Archers are national champions again.

De La Salle University completed a sweep of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League title round, scraping a 70-61 result over Southwestern University on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan City.
The defending UAAP champion, who last won the title in 2008, is now part of an elite cast of multiple-time winners in the league’s history, joining two-time winners University of the East and Far Eastern University, and three-time winners Ateneo de Manila.
They also become the first team to capture both their league championship and the national crown since Ateneo did the trick twice in a row in 2009 and 2010.
Jeron Teng, who finished with 16 points on 50 percent shooting clip from the field with five assists, was named the most valuable player of the finals to go along with his inclusion in the all-tournament team, which included teammates Almond Vosotros, Jason Perkins, together with SWU standouts Landry Sanjo and ex-Green Archer Mac Tallo.
Vosotros finished with 15 points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting from long range, while Perkins had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Sanjo posted 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Tallo had 15 points and eight assists in the loss for the Southern Islands qualifier.
Head coach Juno Sauler, who was awarded as the best coach, noted that their team made the same mistakes as their previous encounters with the Cebu powerhouse, allowing for the Cobras to make a late-game push after posting a lead that reached its apex at 15 points twice in the contest.
“We have to learn more. Things happened today [which] shouldn’t have happened. We could have avoided it. [It] still shows some lack of maturity from our players,” Sauler said. “It was a great, great, great year for us. Lots of learning and improvement, and hopefully these learning and improvement will carry us through next year.”
