Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen defeated the lightweight champion and Filipino mixed martial arts fighter Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and became the first one to be a two-division champion in ONE Championship history last November 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Both warriors exchange powerful attacks on each other in the first round of the fight that continued in the following round.
Unfortunately, during the second round, when Folayang threw a kick against his Nguyen, he landed an explosive right hand on the Filipino fighter and left him unconscious.
When the Australian-Vietnamese fighter was officially announced as the victor by Technical Knockout (TKO), he immediately checked his opponent because after all, they are friends outside the ring.
“I still love you like a brother, I hope you’re fine and I hope you come back stronger. I’m still your number one fan,” Nguyen stated.
In addition, Folayang would like to extend his gratitude to everyone who supported him and Team Lakay during his fight.
“First and foremost, I thank God for His protection. At this point, I assure my followers and the fans of Team Lakay that I am alright and there is nothing to be anxious about. I am still in good physical condition. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to ONE Championship for seeing that I get the best medical attention after the match. I take this opportunity to thank my countrymen for their support not only to me but to the entire Team Lakay athletes who competed last November 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena. My heart is overwhelmed with the outpouring of their encouragement. We hope we can pay it forward.”
After Nguyen’s triumph, he has now a 10-1 win-loss record while Folayang has 18-6.
