PHILIPPINES, 13 November 2017 – The #UAAPSeason80 men’s basketball elimination round ended last Sunday as the Ateneo Blue Eagles tasted their very first defeat of the season. No one was happier than the fans of the team that ended their zero-loss record.

Now, the Top Four universities head onto the final stage of the basketball games and their fans have not fallen short in cheering for their teams and showing their school spirit on Twitter. Top 4 Most Talked About Men’s Basketball University Teams

The four universities heading to the Final Four are Ateneo de Manila University (@ateneodemanilau), De La Salle University (@DLSUManila), Adamson University (@AdamsonUni), and Far eastern University (@FarEasternU). However, the verdict is also out on the Top Four Most Talked About University Teams and Athletes on Twitter. ADMU and DLSU might be popular for their on-court rivalry but the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors (@official_UE) dominated Twitter as the most talked about university team on the platform for the past month (10 October – 10 November) over the course of the second round of the UAAP Season 80. Of course, with their qualification in the Final Four, the DLSU Green Archers (@DLSUManila) and AdU Soaring Falcons (@AdamsonUni) were Twitter favorites, claiming the second and third spot, respectively. Meanwhile, the UP Fighting Maroons (@upsystem) caps off the list, landing in the fourth spot.

#UAAPSeason80 followers weren’t solely focused on the standing of the different universities; they also recognized the skills and talent that the athletes displayed on the court in each of the games. Twitter had always been present to help the UAAP community share their insights on the different games and acknowledged the skills of stand-out athletes in the second round of the season. Ricci Rivero continues to show greatness on the court as he executes flawless plays together with the team. His determination to bounce back after their defeat against the Ateneo Blue Eagles was indefatigable and fans admired him for that. Ricci caught the attention of fans on Twitter with videos of him with their youngest sibling, Riley Rivero. This made fans Tweeted using the #Riverobrothers hashtag.

Big brother to Ricci and Riley Rivero, Prince is one the DLSU Green Archer’s most prominent players who can rack up points in just a few short minutes. What makes him endearing to fans is his boy-next-door demeanor. He greets his Twitter followers every day and asks supporters to pray for the team. He even has heart-warming exchanges with his mom!

Like his teammate Ricci Rivero, Brent has a loyal fanbase on Twitter, and is currently one of the team’s top scorers. But he also racks up the points with his fans, because he even takes time to send them video greetings on Twitter.

Many UAAP watchers believe that Thirdy Ravena is flawless on the court. He surprised fans as he executed unforgettable plays and delivered epic dunks this season. Fans were amazed at this display while some generated memes that featured his gravity-defying stunts which make him look as if he were flying through air.

The on-court battles are about to intensify as the top four universities head onto the playoffs to vie for the title of UAAP Season 80’s basketball champions. For those looking to support their team, getting tickets to watch the Final Four matches live will be a feat in itself.
