Portland Trailblazers star point guard Damian Lillard paid a visit to the basketball crazy nation of the Philippines as part of his Adidas Take On Summer tour.
Lillard who was recently named to the All-NBA 2nd team showcased his wares in front of blockbuster crowd at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday. Dame is coming off a very successful season after posting career highs in points (25.1) and assists (6.8).
The Blazers franchise star takes his talents in Asia with stops in China and Taipei in the coming days. The Blazers have had a decent run in the playoffs this year after reaching the 2016 Western Conference Semi-final round eventually losing to the powerhouse Golden State Warriors.
“My approach to basketball has always been this; you can only get out of the game what you put in – and that’s what Take on Summer is all about,” said Lillard.
Lillard has expressed his delight in being able to meet his passionate Filipino fans in his first visit to the basketball hotbed of Asia.
“That’s the mentality I bring to my training and being able to share that attitude overseas to fans and players is an honor. I’m excited to get back to China, Taiwan and the Philippines to spend time with some of the best hoops fans in the world.” he added.
As part of his tour, Lillard also boasted his new signature pair of shoes in his “D Lillard” line, the PDX Carpet. It is now available in adidas stores in Trinoma and Gateway with a P 6,995 price tag.
