For the first time ever, Adamson University is on on top of the UAAP Cheerdance mountain.
Performing with an 80s themed routine, Adamson Pep Squad surprised everyone with 663.50 points, beating University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe (638.50) and University of the East Pep Squad (634.50).
“Is this real? As in, di ko alam kung nananaginip ako eh. Kasi sanay akong laging UP, UST, NU (ang panalo),” said sobrang magical ang feeling,” said coach Jeremy Lorenzo. “Na-experience ko yung pagiging talo buong college life ko,”
Lorenzo himself was a member from 2007 to 2012, and he understands that the win should not in any way get to his team’s head.
“It’s very flattering, overwhelming. (But) we still have more room for improvement pa,” he noted. “Bilog ang bola. Nasa posisyon kami ngayon, we got the title, magsa-strive na lang kami para masustain ang level na kung ano meron sa amin.”
National University, meanwhile, were anchored off the podium with the under-the-sea performance, falling short of their bid to top the competition for the 5th straight year.
Over at the group stunts division, FEU bagged the top spot, followed by AdU and UP Pep Squad.
