Following an extended layoff due to the country’s hosting of the recently concluded FIBA Asia Championship for Men, Benilde (2-5) beats Arellano (2-5) via a 69-62 count to notch their second straight victory in NCAA Season 89 action on Monday night at The Arena in San Juan.

Leading the charge for the Blazers was Paolo Taha’s dominant performance of 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting with 13 rebounds. Leading the scoring charge was skipper Mark Romero, who put up 18.

Arellano big man Prince Caperal notched one of his best games of the tournament, putting up 20 points and 18 rebounds in a losing effort.

Meanwhile, San Beda College (7-1) routs shorthanded San Sebastian (4-4), 83-64, to win their sixth straight contest in the nightcap.

Leading the way in an all-around effort was Arthur De La Cruz with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Guard Baser Amer added 15 points and five assists, while Rome De La Rosa finished with 14.

Bradwyn Guinto led the Stags with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Mark Trinidad made use of his rare appearance on the floor with 15 points in 17 minutes.
