After holding a 7-day training football camp for kids, Chelsea FC officially launched its soccer school in Philippines on Tuesday.
In partnership with siblings Phil and James Younghusband of Loyola Meralco Sparks FC, the English club will set up “blue pitches” in the country where budding booters can be trained.
The Philippines is the 3rd venue of the English club’s football education program in Asia.
“It’s a milestone for Philippine football and I’m very proud to have this opportunity,” said Phil Younghusband during the ceremonies at SM Mall of Asia. (read the InterAktv article by Art Requiron here)
The Younghusband brothers were trained by Chelsea FC in their youth before they suited up for the Azkals. They now run The Younghusband Football Academy
Chelsea FC’s recent successes involve a UEFA Champions League finals birth after defeating defending champion FC Barcelona in the semifinals (They face FC Bayern Munich in the finals) and an FA Cup at the expense of Liverpool FC.
