The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) sent a complaint to GMA-7 against reporter Arnold Clavio on his “racist” remarks against the Philippine Football Team, popularly known as the Azkals.

In their complaint, they pointed out the racist tirade of Clavio in GMA’s morning program, Unang Hirit last March 13, 2012. Clavio apparently said that “they are not even Filipinos and pretending to be fair-skinned and never grow up” in the Philippines.

Clavio also added that the Azkals are “full of themselves simply because they have a lot of fans and they thought that they are too handsome.” The PFF also cited Clavio and co-host Rhea Santos’ sexual innuendos by stating that the Azkals “wanted only to ‘taste’” them (the female fans).”

Before the PFF’s action Clavio made an apology posted at GMA’s website stating that he “was only referring to the sexual harassment case (of the Azkals) and deeply sorry for using offensive words.” Furthermore, he stated that he is against sexual harassment and not to the Azkals per se.
