In a four-set victory, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles finally subdued the unbeatable De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers for game one of the finals, putting an end to the latter’s 14-0 record.

The Lady Eagles ended the game on a high note with an eight point lead over the Lady Spikers. It was also in fourth set that the Ateneo achieved their highest lead advantage at nine points.

However, the earlier sets were close fights between the two teams, even pushing several alternating match points in the second set. Fille Cainglet hit the winning two-point lead to end the second set at 28-26 in favor of the blue squad.

Meanwhile, Ateneo rookie Alyssa Valdez scored 24 points and listed 19 attacks for the game.

With Ateneo winning game one, there will be three matches for the finals.
