Following a crushing second half breakdown in their opener, the Philippine U-23 squad headed by mentor Hans Michael Weiss seeks to bounce back when they meet Timor Leste on Monday in the 26th Southeast Asian Games football tournament.

The nationals, after scoring the opening goal in the 37th minute of the match courtesy of Manny Ott, conceeded three goals in the second half to give away the match to the Vietnamese.

Matthew Hartmann of the PHI XI accidentally headed in an own goal in the 59th minute to draw the equalizer, then Le Van Thang swung the game to the red shirts’ favor with a 73rd minute goal, and finally Nguyen Van Quyet closed out the match with a thunderous goal two minutes into injury time to seal the deal.

In the match, the Vietnamese got hold of the ball longer than the Filipinos, which resulted in more opportunities that kept the white shirts on their feet.

Kickoff for the match will be at 5:00pm and will be broadcasted live over AKTV on IBC-13 and Studio 23.
