The Philippines ended their campaign in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Kuwait on Thursday night at the historic Rizal Memorial Track and Football Stadium in Manila.

Goals by Yousef Naser and Walied Ali in the 63rd and 85th minutes in the second half secured the 5-1 aggregate score after full time.

Stephan Schrock, who was suspended in the first leg in Kuwait due to the two yellow cards incurred their first round series against Sri Lanka, scored the match’s opening goal in the second minute of stoppage time during the first half.

The squad known as Al-Azraq will now move on to the group stages of the competition as they inch closer to their first appearance in the World Cup Finals since 1982.
