SM Book Nook’s 1st Reading Festival to be held at SM Aura on Jan. 31

The SM Book Nook Reading Festival unfolds on January 31, 2025, from 10 am to 9 pm at the third floor of SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Admission is free.

The diverse lineup of activities include meet-and-greet events with Filipino authors; a quiz game powered by the education website Kahoot!; historical fiction reading from Plaza Books; storytelling sessions with the Book Nook Storytelling Board, Southern Voices Printing Press, and San Anselmo Press, a book club meeting, spoken word poetry presentation with teens and young adults, talks about zines by Bente Bente, the unveiling of the Filipino romance anthology “Sari-Sari Stories”, a talk about copyright, and more.

The authors who are going to grace the Book Nook Reading Festival include National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, Dean Tony La Viña, Hans Peter Arao, “Sari-Sari Stories” writers, Jaffy Fajardo, Therese Villarante-Langit, Rossana Hwang and others esteemed and well-loved personalities of Philippine literature.

The independent publishers who have their unique “nooks” at the festival include Bookshelf PH, Grana Books, Aklat Alamid, Bente-Bente Zine, Isang Balangay Media Productions, Plaza Books, Alagwa Books, San Anselmo Publications, Inc., Southern Voices Printing Press, and Tambayang Pambata.

The event proponent, SM Book Nook, is a community-focused initiative dedicated to nurturing a love for reading among Filipinos. Located in various SM malls, SM Book Nook aims to inspire readers of all ages and champion the richness of Filipino storytelling by creating accessible and engaging literary spaces.
