The USA Basketball Team improved to a 60-2 all-time record in the World Cup preliminary round Wednesday, August 30, 2023, as Anthony Edwards led the way with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. This was the very first time that USA and Jordan met in the senior level with the Americans leading 8-0 to start the first quarter.

NBA veteran Josh Hart steered USA in rebounds for the second consecutive game with 12 rebounds and hustling on and off the ball. He is currently the top rebounder for the USA, averaging 9.0 rebounds per game.

Bobby Portis made his presence felt coming second best in scoring with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals while Jaren Jackson Jr., on the other hand, dominated the paint with 12 points 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks.

Mikal Bridges who celebrated his 27th birthday, was able to tally 9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 assist. When asked if the team had extra motivation after the comments of Noah Lyles, he had this to say, “Awww no, no no, not at all, man! We are all motivated just because we all want to win in general. I got nothing to do with him”.

Team USA will take the day off Thursday and face Montenegro on Friday here in Manila.
