Japoy Lizardo and Janice Lagman: Sparring partners-turned-partners for life

The latest video that many are gushing about is the pre-nup of  soon-to-be-wed Japoy Lizardo and Janice Lagman. The production values of the two-minute film by director Elyne Villamor is already worth raving about: panoramic shots of the sea, overhead shots of the couple traveling on the road riding a motorcycle, and lots and lots of kilig moments between Japoy and Janice.

But what makes the pre-nup video more special and truly noteworthy are the awesome shots of Japoy and Janice doing taekwondo moves on an islet and on the beach. It’s the duo’s tribute to the sport that they love dearly.

Japoy Lizardo and Janice Lagman are both world-class Pinoy taekwondo athletes.

Japoy rose to fame as the poster boy of Philippine taekwondo featured in the Milo energy drink commercials. He represented the country in many international competitions. He won a gold medal at the 2011 SEA Games and a bronze at the 2010 Asian Games.

Janice, meanwhile, is a two-time SEA Games gold medalist in the Poomsae Women’s. With Rani Ortega and Camille Alarilla, Janice was a part of the 2009 trio that cinched the gold at the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Poomsae Championship. They were the first to obtain that honor for the country.

In 2013, the Janice and Japoy became part of the contingent that competed at the 8th World Poomsae Championships in Bali, Indonesia and took home three golds.

Showbiz fans are more familiar with Japoy as an ABS-CBN Star Magic artist who has appeared in the reality show “I Dare You” and the drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.” Janice is the coach of the University of the Philippines Poomsae Varsity Team and a registered nurse. More than sweethearts and co-athletes, the two are also advocates of the sport; they have taekwondo school called J&J Taekwondo that teaches kids ages six and above.

Netizens have been praising the video and congratulating them on social media. Japoy and Janice are very elated with the response. Japoy tweeted in reply, “So overwhelmed by all your tweets! Thank you so much! God really has a PERFECT TIME for everything! Hope we inpsire everyone through our video.”

The couple will be wed in May 2016.
