De La Salle University escaped a close call from University of the Philippines to keep its Final Four bid alive, 72-68, Wednesday November 11 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

It looked like easy picking for the Green Archers ending the first period with a 13-point lead, 19-16.

But the Fighting Maroons quickly turned the tables around in the next two quarters, outscoring La Salle 46-30, and ending the third period up by three, 52-49.

Both exchanged equalling blows until Thomas Torres sank four straight free throws to give the Taft-based squad a four point lead with five minutes left, 64-60.

Prince Rivero and Jeron Teng extended the lead to nine with under three minutes left, enough cushion to give the Green Archers the win.

La Salle is now tied with defending champs National University with a 5-7 record, and one game left to play for both teams — FEU.

If NU and DLSU both lose to FEU and UE beats AdU and ADMU, there will be a three-way tie at 6-8 for fourth place. The two teams with the highest quotient will have a playoff for the last Final Four slot.
