Leading for almost the entire match, Ateneo de Manila University took its sixth win in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament after beating University of Santo Tomas, 80-74, Wednesday October 21 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Arvin Tolentino helped keep UST at bay with 20 points in 7-of-10 shooting.

The Growling Tigers, who were seeking to ensure the first Final Four slot, heavily misfired with 35% field goal percentage compared to the Blue Eagles’ 45%.

Ateneo now holds a solo third spot with a 6-4 record, while UST slips to second with 8-2.
