The defending UAAP champion NU Bulldogs faced a 19-17 deficit against the winless AdU Soaring Falcons at the end of the first quarter of their contest earlier today at the Mall of Asia Arena.
However, that would be the last time that NU would trail for the rest of the game as the Bulldogs woke up and never looked back. They uncorked a 14-0 run to begin the second quarter to take a 12 point lead and their advantage never went below seven points for the remainder of the game.
The Bulldogs walked away with an easy 75-54 win against Adamson with an energized Alfred Aroga leading the way. The center finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists to lead NU while starting guard Gelo Alolino and reserve forward Ralph Tansingco scored 10 points apiece.
As a team, NU pounded the ball inside, scoring 46 points inside compared to just 28 for Adamson. They also limited the Soaring Falcons to just 32 percent shooting from the field.
Adamson was led by Ivan Villanueva who scored 11 points and grabbed two rebounds off the bench. Pape Sarr added nine points and seven rebounds but committed four turnovers.
This victory marks NU’s second consecutive win as they improve to a 2-3 win-loss slate on the season while Adamson remains winless in five outings.
