The Gilas Pilipinas men’s basketball team chalked its second straight win with a 75-60 win over Japan Wednesday in Taipei.

Scoring leader Terrence Romeo sizzled with his dribble drive game anew, leading the nationals with 16 points but it was Fil-Tongan Moala Tautuaa, the number one pick of the 2015 PBA rookie draft, who did the damage in the fourth quarter with two rim rattlers.

Gilas scored 29 points in the fourth quarter with a torrid dribble drive offense resulting in six triples and a solid inside game from Tautuaa.

The contest was nip and tuck in the first half as both squads were dry on offense.

However, Gilas sparked a 12-4 run in the third quarter for a 42-34 lead of four triples from Gabe Norwood and Ranidel de Ocampo.

The Japanese squad trimmed down the lead, 44-44, at the twilight of the third quarter with a superior rebounding game as big man Joji Takeuchi made mincemeat of the smaller Marc Pingris and Calvin Abueva.

Tautuaa then neutralized Takeuchi in the fourth quarter and even posterized the Japanese defense with driving two-handed jams to the delight of the dominant Filipino crowd in Taipei.

The Philippines, now at 3-1, will face FIBA Asia champion Iran on Thursday.
