Team Philippines hauled a total of one silver medal and two bronze medals Friday, a day before the closing ceremonies of the2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

After boxer Charly Suarez bowed to Mongolian Ortgondalai Dorjnyambuu in the finals of the men’s lightweight division in boxing, taekwondo jin Kirstie Elaine Alora and karateka Mae Soriano placed third in their respective disciplines.

Alora, a bronze medalist in the 2010 edition of the games, lost to Cambodian Seavmey Sorn by a hairline, 5-6, in the women’s under 73 kilogram weight category.

The Cambodian connected two head kicks on Alora in rounds one and two, which were enough for her to enter the gold medal match.
On the other hand, Soriano dominated Cok Istri Agung Sanistyarani of Indonesia, 11-3 in the battle for bronze in the women’s under-55 kilogram weight class in karate.

The medals brought team Philippines to a lowly one gold medal, three silver medals, and eleven bronze medals in the quadrennial meet.

This is two gold medals below the 2010 produce, which yielded gold medals in billiards, boxing, and bowling.

Olympian Daniel Caluag was the lone golden man for the Philippines, topping the men’s BMX cycling race.

Wushu was the next best performing sport for the Philippines with two silver and one bronze medals.

Boxing gathered one silver and three bronze medals; taekwondo with five bronze medals; and archery and karate with one bronze medal each.

The Philippines is left with one athlete left—20-year-old Gay Mabel Arevalo, who will compete on the last day of the Asian Games in the women’s under-50 kilograms category in karate.
