Almazan set to be named NCAA Season 89 MVP

sidebar-ncaa89The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released their list of award winners set to be awarded prior to Game 2 of the seniors basketball Finals on Thursday.

Leading the list is pro-bound center Raymond Almazan of Letran College, who nabbed the league’s Most Valuable Player plum, together with his second-straight Defensive Player of the Year award.

Almazan claimed the top individual prize, as he garnered 55.61 statistical points, beating out his fellow Mythical Five members Ola Adeogun of San Beda (50.33 SP), Harold Arboleda of Perpetual Help (46.78 SP), last season’s Rookie of the Year Cedric Noube Happi (46.56 SP), and Nick Omorogbe of Perpetual Help (44.71 SP).

Perpetual Help’s Juneric Baloria, who averaged a team-leading 19.5 points on 42 percent shooting from the field, garnered the Rookie of the Year award ahead of San Sebastian center Bradwyn Guinto.

Jose Rizal University center Michael Mabulac, who normed 11.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest, rounded out the list as the Most Improved Player of the season.
